Licensure

ATOM is a Florida college licensed by the FL Commission for Independent Education to confer the Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, the Master of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (MAHM) and the Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree. Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine and its following programs are accredited by the

Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM)

  • (1) Master of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine

  • (2) Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

ACAHM does not accredit any programs at the undergraduate/bachelor level.

ACAHM is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the specialized accreditation agency for institutions/programs preparing acupuncture practitioners. Public Disclosure Statement Effective as of 12 February 2025.

All graduates of the Master’s of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine program are eligible to take the certification exams in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, Biomedicine and Foundations of Oriental Medicine administered by the National Certification Board for Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine (NCBAHM). Most state acupuncture licensure boards require passage of NCBAHM’s exams or NCBAHM certification as a pre-requisite for licensure to practice acupuncture/Traditional Chinese Medicine. Students completing the ATOM Master’s program are eligible to take all NCBAHM Board exams and the California Board Exams to qualify for licensure in all states.
